God Moment - A Messy Nest

This summer a couple of finches picked and poked away in my hanging flower pot. I thought they might be eating the petals or looking for bugs. I became annoyed. A friend advised putting discarded cassette tape strands in to distract them. They simply used it to build a nest in the pot. A very messy one at that.

I saw a devotional blog, titled 'Messy Nest' (Psalm 84:3), stating that God welcomes a messy nest if it draws us closer to Him.

At a prayer retreat camp, I mentioned these finches and their messy nest; some pointed out the birds felt safe and protected in my flower pot.

Later, in a thrift store, I was drawn to a box of postcards. I noticed they had Scriptures. One had Psalm 91:1. Well! It is God that has me lovingly cupped in His hands, messy nest and all!!
