Are you familiar with the toy line, "Transformers"?
This is a line of toys produced by an American toy company, created from toy molds mostly produced by a Japanese company. The premise behind the Transformers toy line is that an individual toy's parts can be shifted about to change it from a vehicle, a device, or an animal, to a robot action figure and back again. I've been fascinated to watch one thing become completely transformed into something entirely new!
Even more fascinating is it to read in Scripture about how it is made totally possible for a person (including you and me) to be totally transformed from a life of sin into a new creation through Jesus Christ! The apostle, Paul, talks about this from personal experience in 2 Corinthians 5.
Transformation of his life happened when he went from having only information about Jesus, being a persecutor of Him to being in Christ! He stepped into a personal and spiritual relationship with Jesus because he believed in the gospel message by faith alone. To be in Christ is to become a new creation, brought about by the working of the Holy Spirit.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. The old life of being a slave to sin is gone while the new life of this love relationship with Jesus provides us with new attitudes and actions. For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again. (2 Corinthians 5:14-15)
One of the verses to a familiar hymn says this -
Unlike the toy line of Transformers where they can be changed back to their original state, we rejoice in the fact that the wonderful grace of Jesus transforms us for all eternity!
