Annual Meeting Report
We had a good turnout for our first Potluck Supper and Annual Meeting last year, so we looked forward to this year's Annual Meeting with anticipation. It was on Friday, March 23. A tasty meal with a variety of hot and cold dishes, and some excellent desserts was enjoyed by 29 people.
Our Kids' Korner workers had been preparing crafts for instruction pages on the website. They had made extra greeting cards, so a little test Silent Auction was run in the next room to see if there might be enough interest to try one on a larger scale. (A decision was made the following week that this was too small a niche kind of sale, and to expand it was going to make for more work than our current staff can take on).
When the Annual meeting was called to order, Arnold had us introduce ourselves, Joe sang for us, and then Vern Thiessen, who used to work as the WTM printer in the early 1980s, pointed to various spots in the meeting room where we were, as the places where the presses had been. The room had changed a lot since it was the printshop. Vern shared the lessons he learned during his years here, and also the many blessings God brought into their lives. His wife, Gail, had often helped him as they worked through the evening to finish print jobs.
When they returned from Cyprus after a missionary term, Gail came to work in the Mailbox Club again for a while.
The annual reports were read, showing the direction and kind of work each department has been doing. After certain groups of reports we paused for one or two people to pray for those departments. We rejoice in the good that has been accomplished through the arms of ministry here.
We have been looking about for better ways to reach the youth of this generation and to help them to become enthused about evangelism. Perhaps at next year's Annual Meeting we'll have many NEW things to report on!
