Report on June Fund-raisersThis business celebrates their anniversary with their customers and the neighbourhood by offering hamburgers and hotdogs outside on that day. They invited us to staff the table outside and they would give half the profits to our Mission. The total profit this year was only $150 so the owner decided to give it all to Western Tract Mission. ![]() Our Walkathon on June 18th was ON despite the weather. It had already been raining quite a lot the previous day. Arnold Stobbe, sent out an email on Friday night saying we would meet in the Kinsmen Park to discuss our options and make a decision by 9:45 am. Cancelling was NOT an option. We stood around with umbrellas discussing what to do. Katie and Harold Barth, who live near Spadina Crescent, along the route, had invited us to have the barbecue in their garage. If no one wanted to walk we could head there, have a short presentation and our barbecue and be done. Second option: walk just past the Circle Drive bridge and then turn up into the sub-division to the Barth's home for the barbecue. Third option: go the whole route along the Meewasin Trail as originally planned. The walkers were keen to go, so the second option was chosen. See a full photo story: Walkathon in Photos. Nearly $9000 was raised for Impact Canada - more than ever before! |
