My Peace I Give Unto You
Headlines in the news media abound with reports of wars, rumors of wars, hatred
and deception. Marriage vows are broken with no regard for the partners or
loved ones. Confrontation between employer and employee is ongoing.
Everywhere people are looking for answers to their problems. Where do we
find reliable answers to life perplexities?
Jesus Who said, "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life" also said,
"I am come that they (you) might have life and that they (you) might have
it more abundantly" ( John 10:10). How do you and I tap into this abundant life?
God says, "your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and
your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear us." ( Isaiah 59:2).
In Romans 10:9-10, we read, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth
the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him
from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto
righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation."
Once we accept Jesus into our life, the Holy Spirit takes up residence within us. According to Romans 8:14, all those who accept the Holy Spirit's leading are the children of God.
Jesus guarantees joy when we abide in Him. "These things have I spoken unto
you, that My joy would remain in you, and that your joy might be full."
King David experienced this joy and exclaimed: "In Thy Presence is fullness
of joy; at Thy right hand are pleasures forever more" (Psalm 16:11).
What are God's plans for our future? In 1 John 3:2 we are told, "Beloved now
are we the children of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be; but we
know that when He shall appear, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as
He is." (1 Cor. 2:9) offers this prospect: "Eye hath not seen, nor ear
heard, nor entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared
for them that love Him."
