New Volunteers at Western Tract Mission
Tina Dyck
I remember going to Sunday School from my earliest recollection. I loved it
- and especially if my teacher used flannelgraph - it made the Bible stories
so interesting.
I heard God's Word in church and at home. I wanted to become a Christian,
but it took until I was 13 years old before, at an evangelistic service in
our church, I made that decision.
As a child I struggled with my feelings. I often doubted my salvation
because I didn't feel saved. How wonderful it was for me when I was taught
the truth - that my salvation did not depend on my feelings but on what Christ
had done for me. John 5:24 became very important to me.
"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My Word and believes in him Who
sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgement, but has
passed from death unto life."
I am thankful for my years at Bible School. They were important years of
growth where I was grounded in my faith.
Then in the school of life - I am beginning the role of being a grandma now
- so there have been many and varied experiences where I have had the
opportunity to continue growing and maturing. God's Word has become very
precious to me. More and more I realize God's Word is truth. We can trust
and depend on Him.
As I am becoming involved with Western Tract Mission, I am impressed with
the outreach it represents. The thousands of name stickers we put on
"Reflections" showed me that it's being read across Canada. As I mark
the Mailbox lessons that come in from students, I realize what a valuable
tool this is. I appreciate the weekly prayer meetings where we seek God's
face on behalf of the many prayer needs that come to our attention.
I am wanting to get involved with Western Tract Mission because I believe
it is effective in getting God's Word to people.
Archie Loewen - Board Chairman
John 1:12 says, "But to as many as received Him, to them he gave the
right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name."
What a tremendous gift from God that we can be His child! Eph. 2:8 tells
us that salvation is based on God's grace through faith, not on something
we merit in ourselves, but rather it's a free gift from God. I accepted this
free gift of salvation from God in my mid-teens. The Lord has led me to
attend several years of Bible School and then into the teaching profession.
During my thirty years of teaching, the Lord has made it possible for me to
serve Him in a number of churches in the community in which I was teaching.
A real highlight during those years was the opportunity to serve on the
Timber Bay Children's Home Board for some twenty years. First, as the
chairman of the provisions committee, and then towards the end as the
chairman of the full board. The Lord saw it first that the children's
home cease to operate and then that NCEM take over the site and take it
in a new direction.
I joined the WTM team several years ago to help mail out tracts for
Impact Canada. Last March I was asked to serve on the board with WTM.
At that time I took over the role of Board Chairman. I ask for your
prayers as the Board continues to move ahead to get Gospel tracts into
the hands of needy people with your help.
Here are some goals, the Lord willing, that I would like to see happen:
The WTM building needs some interior insulating and repair which needs to
be done this Fall before the cold weather sets in.
WTM is always in need of more finances to maintain
present programs as well as to add new programs, tracts and staff support.
More volunteer workers to serve at WTM and its programs.
I'm thankful to God for the opportunities that He has given me throughout
my life. I am trusting the Lord for His guidance and wisdom to make the most
of this present opportunity.
