Toilet Paper Penguin

When we become a Christian we are changed from something old to something new. Here is a craft that uses old things to make something new. Have fun!

The weather outside may be frightful, but there are lots of fun ways to create lasting memories inside! Here is an idea for an easy winter craft to make a toilet paper penguin with your kids!

Toilet paper penguin. This is a cute little penguin that is both fun and easy to make. While you can find penguin templates online, do not be afraid to stretch your creative muscles and decorate your penguin freehand. What you will need for each penguin:

materials needed for the toilet paper penguin
  • Toilet paper tube
  • Black and white construction paper
  • Scrap orange construction paper
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • 2 Wiggle eyes

Instructions: Cover your tube completely with black construction paper. Draw an oval shape with a straight bottom onto white construction paper and cut out to make the tummy. Next draw two large raindrops onto black construction paper for the wings and cut out. Finally draw two large triangles for the feet and one diamond for the beak onto orange construction paper and cut out. Carefully glue the tummy onto the tube so that the straight edge is at the bottom of the tube.

Next you need to gently crease the wings in half and then glue them onto either side of the tummy, pointed side down. Keep in mind that creasing before you glue them will help the wings to stick out from the body a little. Glue on the wiggle eyes and the beak, which is the diamond folded in half.

Finally, fold one corner of the triangle feet to make a tab. You can then glue the tabs to the front inside of the tube so that the feet stick out in front of the penguin.

Variations for the penguin: You can create an Emperor Penguin by simply coloring his belly. All you do is simply color around the outside of the belly with yellow chalk and then put a line of orange next to that. Carefully blend the colors together. You can also make a Macaroni Penguin using strings, yarn, or even a pom pom to make the crazy hair on the head.
