A Sunday School Boy
It is quite possible that you were once a Sunday School boy too, like Elmer, and you memorized many Bible verses. Has your life turned out as Elmer's did? Mind you, it is not merely sitting in a Sunday School class week after week that has such a profound effect. What it does is put you in a place where you are most likely to hear the great truths of God and His wonderful gift of His Son, making possible our salvation if we personally receive Jesus as our Saviour. It should follow that we eagerly what the Bible says and follow it for a strong, godly walk with our Lord Jesus.
Testimony of a Sunday School Boy
For GOD, the Lord of Earth and Heaven,
After attending Sunday School for several years I entered the Canadian Sunday School Mission Bible memory contest. Having memorized the required number of verses I attended the Mission camp held at Wakaw, Sask. There I heard the simple Gospel story in a way I had never heard it before. I do not remember what was said in the testimonies or messages the first night I was there, but I do know that the death of Christ for my sins appealed to me as it never did before.
Next morning as a group of boys met for a brief period of Bible Study and prayer before breakfast, I opened my heart's door to the blessed Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and with His precious Blood He cleansed me from sin and gave me everlasting, eternal life. That was in July, 1933, and ever since I have had peace and joy in my heart, which the world never gave, nor can ever take away. It has been a pleasure to work with and for Him in His harvest field, and I pray and desire to be fruitful in His service.
Dear reader, I beg of you to give Him a place in your life. You will never know what happiness, rest and peace really is until you receive it from Christ who died that you might have life. “As many as received Him to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.” As Jesus Christ is “the same yesterday, to-day, and for ever” “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” (John 1:12; Hebrews 13:8; Acts 16:31.)
