Take a Psalm!

THE saints of God in every age have found inspiration for their own songs of thanksgiving in the Book of Psalms. "There is no one book of Scripture," says old Matthew Henry, "that is more helpful to the devotions of the saints than this, and it has been so ever since it was written. " Every experience of the soul is echoed in the Old Testament psalter, and the ancient words fit my lips as though I had composed them. Few exercises could be more profitable than to commit to memory some of these glowing passages, that my own feeble utterance may be moulded and strengthened. Let these samples whet my appetite!

"My heart is fixed, O God, my heart is fixed; I will sing and give praise...I will praise Thee, O Lord among the People; I will sing unto Thee among the Nations. For Thy mercy is great unto the heavens, and Thy Truth unto the clouds."
