A Delight

THIS Day of Days was made for man. It is the gift of God's love. It was instituted at the Creation, Genesis 2:3. In His blessed Word our Heavenly Father speaks of the Day as "My Sabbath" no less than ten times. Moreover it has pleased God to associate this Day of Gladness with a Finished Salvation - since Christ Jesus our Savior arose from the dead on the First Day of the Week. The Holy Spirit also came in fulness on this Day, and came to abide. Thus the hallowed Day is thrice-consecrated - consecrated by God the Father at the Creation, consecrated by God the Son at the Resurrection, consecrated by God the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. If then we love the Lord of the Day, let us love the Day of the Lord.
