God Loves Youby Gilbert Sommert
God Loves You! Keep this truth foremost in your mind regardless of what you have done or what is
facing you. God not only loves you but is also interested in your most intimate relationships of
life.
You and I were created by a great God; by the God who created heaven and earth and all things
therein. God is not limited as men are bound to limitations. There comes a time when our strength is
exhausted, but God's power is inexhaustible. He is omnipotent, all powerful. Our understanding is
finite, but God's understanding is infinite. The Bible declares that "all things are naked and
opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do." (Hebrews 4:13). Similarly, our love may come
to an end but the love of God toward man knows no limit. In many cases broken relationships in the
home have resulted in the breakdown of love and homes have been rent asunder, but God's love for us
is steady. We may even deny the fact of God's concern for us, but this does not lessen His care.
Just because one may deny the law of gravity, it does not mean that this law has been suspended.
Because one may act as though God does not really care for him, it does not change the attitude or
characteristics of God. He is an unchanging God and our acceptance or rejection of divine truth in
no way minimizes His truth. The Bible says, "If we believe not, yet He abideth faithful." So man's
unfaithfulness would in no manner make God unfaithful.
We do not have to search long to find that frequently men act very unlovely. But God's love still is
outstretched to all men, regardless of their attitude toward Him.
There was a time when I had very little time for God, and the belief that I possessed was a
knowledge of God's reality but not a belief that caused me to obey Him. Like most young people, I
wanted to live as I had planned. But God had a plan for my life, just as real as He has for you, and
the conviction settled upon my heart that I needed God. Now I did not surrender to Him immediately,
nor did the Holy Spirit cease dealing with me just because I was stubborn. The Spirit of God
continued to convince me of the need of accepting Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord of my life. And
I, in turn, found no real peace or serenity of soul until I bowed before God and asked Him to make
me His own.
That night I was changed on the inside and I began to desire the will of God for my life. This
experience of conversion created by the Holy Spirit in response to my surrender to God was essential
to experiencing more of the blessings God had in store. Had I not yielded to God but had rejected
His plea to become my Saviour, my name would not have been recorded in heaven's Book of Life that
night. Yet God would still have continued to love me, although His Spirit would have been
grieved.
God loves all men and desires that all men should come to a knowledge of their sins being forgiven.
The Bible says, "If God be for you, who can be against you." God is for you, that is, He is desiring
the best for you. God's dealings with you are for your own good and for His ultimate glory. Anything
that God does for you is really for your benefit. Since God has a plan for your life, He knows that
you will only be fully content when you are fulfilling His plan for you. Just as every part of your
automobile is meant to fit into its proper relationship with the other parts, so our life is
satisfied only when it is properly related to God.
Do you ever feel disturbed and frustrated? Remember that God knows just how you feel and He waits to
help you in times like these. When a straw is floating down the river, the water can flow through
the straw; but if that piece of straw is held across the river, it will break or bend. When our life
is in tune with God, His love can flow through us. However, if we are at cross purposes with God's
plan for our life, we will ruin and wreck it.
Don't ever try to run away from God's will and plan. He is so much wiser than any man. God's call is
for commitment to His will and surrender to the saving power of Jesus Christ. Really, God does love
you and once you believe it with all your heart, you will trust Him with your life
