A Guideline to Heaven
By Mrs. Grace Verver
Are you wondering about heaven and how you can be sure to get there?
What must I do to be sure of heaven? It is simple!
Acts 16:30-31 "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be
saved, you and your household." (NKJV)
John 14:6 "Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through Me.'" (NKJV)
There is only one way. Jesus is the way. There is no other way!
Acts 4:12 "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven
given among men, whereby we must be saved." (KJV)
Matthew 1:21 "You shall call His name JESUS, for He will save His people from their sins."
(NKJV)
Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be
saved."
1 Corinthians 15:3 "Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures." (KJV) The only reason Jesus came to earth was to pay the sinner's debt on Calvary's
cross.
There was no other way to save us from an eternal hell. He made a way of escape for all who come to Him for cleansing and forgiveness.
Hebrews 7:25 "Therefore He (Jesus) is also able to save to the
uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He ever lives to make intercession for
them." (NKJV)
Come to Him now, just as you are.
Proverbs 28:13 "He who covers his sins will not prosper, But whoever
confesses and forsakes them will have mercy." (NKJV)
Lamentations 3:22-25 "Through the LORD's mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions
fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. 'The LORD is my portion,' says my
soul, 'Therefore I hope in Him!' The LORD is good to those who wait on Him, to the soul who seeks
Him." (NKJV)
John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only
begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved." (NKJV) Because you are part of this world
please put your name where the world is mentioned
above.
John 3:36 "He who believes in the Son has everlasting life; and he who does not believe the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides
on him." (NKJV)
1 Timothy 2:4-6 "Who (God our Savior) will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the
knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one Mediator between God and
men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave Himself a ransom for all." (KJV)
1 John 5:11 "And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life,
and this life is in His Son." (KJV)
1 John 5:9-10 "If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is
greater; for this is the witness of God which He has testified of His
Son. He who believes in the Son of God has the witness in himself;
he who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God
has given of His Son." (NKJV)
What will you do with Jesus?
1 John 5:12-15 "He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have
life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to
believe in the name of the Son of God. Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we
ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He
hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him." (NKJV)
1 John 4:9-10 "In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent His
only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. Herein is
life, not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our
sins." (KJV)
Jesus is God's wonderful "love gift" to a sinful race.
Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come (fall) short of the glory of God." (KJV)
Without God means without hope.
Acts 10:43 "To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever
believes in Him will receive remission of sins." (NKJV)
Be not afraid - have faith in the blood of Jesus, "Faith" means "trust" and "confidence."
John 10:27-30 Jesus said: "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me:
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither
shall any man pluck them out of My hand. My Father, who gave them to Me, is greater than all;
and no man is able to pluck them out of My Father's hand. I and My Father
are one." (KJV, revised)
The words of Jesus are truth and life. God cannot lie. That is
Satan's business. He is the opposite of God, and he is our adversary who stalks about "seeking whom
he may devour." (1 Peter 5:8, KJV)
But we need not fear him when Jesus is with us, for He is our refuge and shield. Let not the
devil tell you, that you have gone too deep in sin, and your case is hopeless. For
there is pardon for the greatest of sinners who cries out to Jesus.
Isaiah 55:7 "He will abundantly pardon." (KJV) Are you willing to
come just as you are - a sinner in need of forgiveness? Please read Luke
23:42-43.
John 6:37 Jesus said: "The one who comes to Me I will by no means cast
out." (NKJV) Praise God! So come! If you really want to go to
heaven, and be sure that you will get there, then believe
God's Word, and come to Him.
Go alone somewhere and repent of your sins - name them by name. This you can do, if you
remember that God knows all your shortcomings and sins already. We cannot hide from God. He knows us
through and through.
Psalms 139:2 "You know my sitting down and my rising up; You understand my thought afar off."
(NKJV)
Hebrews 4:13 "Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight: but all things
are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do." (KJV) Please read all of Psalms
139. In view of this is it not proper to be honest before God and admit your great need for
cleansing and forgiveness? You can receive Him or reject
Him. Ask Jesus to enter your heart and to wash every spot and stain of sin away with His
precious cleansing blood. By your own choice you settle your eternal destiny.
Choose this day whom you will serve!
Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus
Christ our Lord." (KJV)
It pays to serve Jesus, and it pays to serve the devil; which pay do you like the best? Jesus alone can save you from the guilt and penalty of sin, also from eternal
punishment. Life is so serious and unpredictable. We do not know where, or when, or how our
life will end. That is the reason why it pays to be ready to meet our Maker.
Hebrews 2:3 "How shall we escape, if we neglect to great salvation?
(KJV)
Isaiah 55:6-7 "Seek...the LORD while He may be found, call upon Him while He is near." God has
made a way of escape for you. "Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts:
and let him return unto the LORD, and He will have mercy upon him; and to
our God, for He will abundantly pardon." (KJV)
1 John 1:9-10 "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to
cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we
make Him a liar, and His word is not in us." (KJV)
If you trust Jesus and receive Him as your personal Savior and Mediator, you will have the
assurance of sins forgiven and everlasting life in heaven.
Matthew 7:7 "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and you shall find; knock, and it shall be
opened unto you." (KJV)
Invite Jesus into your heart and life and give the reins over to Him.
Believe and adhere to the counsel of God's Word, and you will find
fulfillment, direction adn peace for your life. Do not build your salvation on your feelings.
Feelings come and feelings go - feelings are deceiving! Your authority is the Word of God; nothing
else is worth believing. Believe and trust in Jesus' unchanging love with all your heart. You cannot
go wrong in doing so!
Remember Genesis 6:3 says: "My Spirit shall not always strive with man." (KJV)
Proverbs 29:1 warns us: "He who is often reproved and hardens his neck, will suddenly be
destroyed, and that without remedy." (NKJV) But, the Lord also says in:
Jeremiah 29:11-14 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of
peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray
to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search
for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the LORD." (NKJV)
While you have the opportunity, be wise and settle the matter of your personal salvation
today. Do not harden your heart. Too much is at stake.
2 Corinthians 6:2 "Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." (KJV) Come to Jesus just now. It does not matter
who you are, or what condition you are in - Jesus came to save sinners. He will not cast you out
when you come to Him with an honest heart. There is no other Savior!
If you choose to give your life to Jesus then personalize the following:
I accept Jesus as my Savior right now.
I have confessed all my sins to Him.
I thank Jesus for His cleansing and forgiveness.
I want to serve and obey Him from now on.
I thank Him for filling me with His Holy Spirit.
As a new believer you should begin:
-studying the Bible (start with the New Testament)
-obeying the Lord by being baptized
-attending a church where God's Word is being preached and the gospel of salvation is clear
-spending time with the Lord in prayer daily
-telling others about your new found joy -- Jesus
Matthew 10:32 "Whosoever therefore shall confess Me before men, him will I confess also before
My Father who is in heaven." (KJV) It is so simple! Believe -- repent -- accept
God's free offer of forgiveness -- thank Him -- Obey and serve Him the rest of your life.
As far as you are able, make things right in your life. Getting right with
God is the greatest thing that can happen to you. Jesus is the answer to all your problems.
John 20:31 "But these are written, that you might believe that Jesus is the
Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you might have life through His name." (KJV)
Suppose we erase everything in the Bible that has been written about Jesus -- all that was
prophesied about Him in the Old Testament; His supernatural birth; the miracles He did; His death on
Calvary; His burial, His resurrection, and His ascension into heaven. Tell me now...if we erase
everything concerning Him, what do we have left? Just another book of historical value, but no way
out for a lost mankind, no Mediator, no Redeemer, no Intercessor, no cleansing blood, no
forgiveness, no chance of ever getting to heaven. But thank God, it's real; Jesus
is our refuge! What will you do without Him?
God made us free, moral agents -- your response to God is final. God will not push you into
heaven against your will, nor does He damn you. Friend, your own decision
determines your destiny. Be wise -- choose well!
Place your life at the feet of Jesus. Trust in Him and in God's Holy Word, the Bible. You will
never be sorry you did. And you need no longer wonder about heaven or how to get
there! Because:
God said it, Jesus did it, you believed it, and that settles it!
Take God at His Word and you will have assurance of salvation. If you don't you will always
"doubt" or "hope-so" and you will never be sure because you refuse to take God at His Word -- God who cannot lie.
"Life is short, Death is sure,
Sin the curse, Christ the cure."
Where will you spend eternity?
