I Love Thursday Evening
Every Thursday evening a group of us in Saskatoon get together at ICM to pray. Our meetings have a specific focus, we are there to pray for revival in our own hearts, revival in the churches of our country, and for the salvation of the lost people in our midst. I look forward to this all week as every time we gather we are so aware of God's presence among us. "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." (Matt. 18:20 NIV) I also look forward to this time, as I have seen the amazing ways that God has been working through these prayer meetings in my own life, and in the lives of everyone who comes.
In the two or so years since we have been meeting, I have seen a significant amount of revival in my heart. What do I mean by that? I have a growing knowledge of who I am in Christ, I have a growing desire to serve him and I have a growing longing to see the many lost people in our country come to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ.
I was praying one morning while I rode the bus to the local university that I would have an opportunity to share the gospel that day. We had also been praying for this at the Thursday night prayer meetings. Later that day I found myself in a long conversation with some young Muslim men with whom I was not only able to share the gospel at that time, but we have continued to build a growing friendship. I have had several more times of answering/asking questions with these men, while always continuing to share the message of salvation through the finished work of Jesus Christ.
I am so thankful for this opportunity, and many more like it that have come to myself and the others who gather
each Thursday night to pray.
