Tatsuhiko Toyoda - Shinichi Toyoda 1940 - 1973
Suffering from malnutrition his foster mother decided that Miyoko should spend some time with him which she gladly did. At fifteen he had attended seven different schools. When he was falsely accused of stealing and discovered that he had been born out of wedlock he became a rebel and only wanted to make money. After Miyoko found God she started praying for Tatsuhiko. At nineteen Tatsuhiko was fed up with his life of crime and rebellion. He came home to Osaka and attended some special meetings. Here, following a real struggle, he confessed his sins and gave his life to God. He turned himself in to the police confessing his crimes. They checked with Tokyo police but they had no record of his crimes. The police told him to not look back. Tatsuhiko praised God. He now changed his name to Shinichi which meant faithful one. In 1959 he was baptized into the Christian faith and soon became the leader of young people. Later he met Tokuko who had grown up in an orphanage but found the Lord. They got married and when Shinichi was twenty eight he started four years of Bible College. He spent many hours in prayer. Every Saturday he went up a mountain and spent the night with God. In the morning he would go to church with his wife and four boys. Shortly after the birth of his fifth child he again went up the mountain but never came back alive. He was now thirty three years old. This story entitled "No Greater Love" was written by Neil and Peggy Verwey, a missionary couple in Japan. It is co-published by Japan Mission and New Life Litho.
