Meagan, age 16, played the piano, the violin, and a harp like an accomplished adult musician. Her siblings, Marie, Margaret, Mariel, Dominic, Miranda and Madison all behaved professionally. All of them had a sweet humility and delight in their hymns and classical tunes that glorified God.
The parents, Dennis and Melissa Ong joined the children for some songs, showing the beauty of a healthy Christian family. They are all involved in AWANA, and they go to sing for seniors, or where asked, considering it an opportunity for ministry.
Joe showed a clear powerpoint on the activities at the mission through 2008, and introduced the redesign of Scripture Signs as a ministry department that now offers digital posters with Bible verses on them.
Arnold Stobbe, our Director, called up Ruth Friesen and Lynn Moen (a Board member) to pray for this year's mailing of There is Hope booklets, and the new Scripture Signs venture.
There are another 65,000 homes in Saskatchewan to reach. The offering for the continued mailing out of There is Hope until that goal is reached, came to $2,947.12.
Of course, there were plenty of sweets to help people sit down to chat together in the gym after the program.
The missionary staff had been busy the previous 3-4 weeks, preparing the first of what may become many Scripture Signs on their computers. The initial batch of about ten such posters were printed, and some framed in mat frames, and one done up very handsomely in a professional frame.
That latter picture, of a Saskatoon bridge with Psalm 68:19 on it, was the door prize. Nearly everyone who came through the door was persuaded to fill out a slip with name and address to have a chance to win it.
During the Dessert time, the draw was made, and Lisa Hase was the winner. She had just left to go home, but a friend went hurrying after her and brought her back from the parking lot to receive her prize.
The missionary staff were kept busy helping people choose their favourite poster. For a donation they could take their choice home. When the extra prints ran out, they could fill out an order to receive it later when reprints are made.
All we ask is a reasonable donation. These posters will, we hope, become another source of funds for our goal of getting the gospel into the hands of people. Of course, each poster that is put in any home, is putting God's Word where it can speak to more hearts and minds. The donations for Scripture Signs on Friday evening came to $74.00.
Note that by the time you are reading this, these same posters will be available on our website at WesternTractMission.org/Signs/ You may freely download and print them, to hang on your walls, or to give as gifts to others..
