More about Jesus let me learn, More of His holy will discern,
Spirit of God, my teacher be, Showing the things of Christ to me.
We need a new vision of God if we want to grow spiritually. In Isaiah 6:1 Isaiah says, "I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple....," and in verse 3, "Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; The whole earth is full of His glory!" In verse 5 Isaiah saw himself, "Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips; for my eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts."
The tongue can be powerful and destructive both in our relationship with God and with other people. Our mouths are dirty when we spread rumors or lies about another person, or when we spread dissention and disunity among fellow believers. Our mouths are dirty when we boast in pride, while tearing others down in gracelessness. Most of all, our mouths are dirty when we say we believe in God, yet live far apart from Him. Praise God, He has made provision for us to have a clean mouth.
Isaiah, in a broken, sinful condition, confessed his sin and experienced the healing touch of God's forgiveness. Then, in Isaiah 6:8 he "...Heard the voice of the Lord, saying: "Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us"' Then I said, 'Here am I! Send me.'"
We can have the same experience Isaiah had, according to (I John 1:9) "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Holiness is God's plan. He is holy and He wants to be actively present in our lives. May Christians have a desire to live a holy life, but they have come to believe they cannot do it. The truth is, God has made provision for us to live a holy life, but He has also given us definite responsibilities.
Our responsibility, found in Romans 6:12, is, "Do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts." We have been set free but there is still the struggle between the Spirit and our sinful nature.
God does not leave us alone to win these battles. He gave His Holy Spirit to live within us. He gives us the strength to live a holy life. Galatians 5:16. "Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh."
