I stopped in to visit Warren one day at their farm home. His wife met me at the door and asked sternly, "Who are you and what do you want?" I told her my name and that I wanted to see Warren. She showed me to a chair by the table. She went off to another room, I could hear them talking. Warren came and I tried to get him to talk but didn't get very far. I talked to him for awhile, then asked if I could pray with him, he said yes and I was on my way. Some time later I stopped in again and now the lady gave me a warm welcome. Again she got her husband. We talked some, when it was time to go I quoted Scripture, prayed and left. I did this a few more times. Years later, at Blaine Lake, I met John living on an acreage. He asked me in for a coffee. Just like that he said, "My mother-in-law got saved." He realized to whom he was talking and added, "Oh, you knew that." I said "No. How did that happen?" "You led in a prayer of forgiveness in their home and she accepted the Lord there." Then I remembered she had been sitting in the next room. When I prayed with her husband she was the one that prayed with me. - Arnold Stobbe |
