I grew up in a large Christian family on a farm near Borden, SK. I missed out on much of life because I was so shy. I became a Christian at age 8 and was baptized at 13.
After high school I went to Prairie Bible College, but I felt lost in a such a big crowd so I switched to Nipawin Bible Institute. It was a warm family setting and I enjoyed it so much more. During my Bible school years I spent two summers teaching 5-Day Bible Clubs with Child Evangelism Fellowship. This I thoroughly enjoyed!
Then I worked at Timber Bay Children's Home in the kitchen. Those were three excellent years in my life! I loved interacting with the native children there.
Moving on to Ontario, I worked with Mutual Support Systems in their Group Homes. Children came to us who had to be taken from their own home because they were being abused. While there I was a teen girl's shadow because she was good at running.
That summer I got married and we went on to have three blonde, blue-eyed girls. I was a stay-at-home Mom, babysitting other children and bringing up my own. I also organized and led Vacation Bible School two different summers. How fulfilling.
My marriage was a very difficult one. My husband had been abused by his adopted father all his growing up years. I thought my love and devotion would be all he needed. Not so. He got trapped in pornography, poor job habits, and poor financial decisions. He choose to get close to another woman, then men, and a 17 year old boy.
At this time God gave me peace beyond comprehension to leave the marriage. My family brought my daughters and me to Saskatoon. Here God has brought us healing through our family and church. I have worked as a cleaner for six years, and God has provided the remainder, blessing us over and over again.
Because of back problems it is time to leave cleaning behind. I have applied and been accepted as a missionary with Western Tract Mission, but need to raise my full support so that I can continue to care for my girls. I can hardly wait for this new life of ministry for our dear Lord.
[Ed. Please consider pledging regular support for Priscilla. We need her].
