Tina (Bargen) Dyck
(Dec/25/1939 - May 30, 2007)

Tina Dyck We were all caught off guard when Tina died suddenly while watching the late news before bedtime. We had a hard time believing it was true.

At the mission office we miss Tina very much as we try to pick up where she left off as a corrector of Bible correspondence in the Mailbox Club.

She took a personal interest in all her students. Sometimes she met one of the young women for coffee, to show that someone really did care about her. Tina got very touching letters in return from her students.

But Tina did much more. She had a gift of encouraging whoever she met, saying just the right thing, or asking a friendly question. She often brought the birthday cake for the monthly staff birthday party.

She was born a Christmas baby in 1939 to Gerhard and Suse (Wiens) Bargen at Glenbush, SK. She received her teacher's certificate in 1962, and taught for six years, after which she married Henry Dyck. They lived near Glenbush for 33 years, raising two children and some foster children.

Tina Dyck working at correcting Mailbox Club lessons In 2001 they retired to Saskatoon and became involved in a new church, and community. Tina volunteered at Western Tract Mission along with a number of other ministries at which she gave of her time and herself.

She took part in the annual Day of Prayer, and the Walkathons, right from the beginning.

Glenda, Tina and Barb arriving at picnic area in 2006 We remember Tina's presence at the Walkathon last year in the misting rain. Later she arrived at the picnic area refreshed and invigorated from the prayer walk with good companions. (Glenda and Barb are shown here, on either side of Tina).

Do pray for Henry and family as they miss Tina most of all.
At the funeral service on June 2, held at the West Portal Mennonite Brethren Church on 33rd Street West in Saskatoon, donations were made to WTM in Tina's memory. More have come into the office after that.
