David McDonnall ( ca.1975-2004)

Facing Terror - by Carrie N. McDonnall (book or CD) David, as described by his wife on the CD Facing Terror was a story teller, generally warm and friendly, patient, optimistic - seeing only opportunities, a good leader, and loved bartering in the open market. The one time that he was nervous was when he asked his future father-in-law for permission to date his daughter. He feared nothing just as Daniel did and his whole heart was for God like King David. To him the Christian life was an adventure and an experience with God. He believed that you have to constantly seek Him, allowing Him to guide the footsteps of you life. He was always willing to try something new. His faith was rooted in the fact that God is the Lord of the harvest, that God is sovereign and nothing happens apart from His control.

His first love was always for the Lord and His calling, then his wife and family. He loved hunting in Colorado where he grew up.

He served in Sudan, Jordan and other Arab speaking countries. In 1999 he had the job of establishing humanitarian services in lands where none existed. This led him to Jordan where he learned the language by immersion. He loved the food and since every event in the Arab culture is a social one he loved the culture as well.

In 2000 he started email correspondence with Carrie who was serving in Israel teaching young women English as a second language and cleaning toilets and washing floors in an orphanage. They got married on June 8th in 2002. David could sing loud but not well but he sang country music to Carrie on their first anniversary in Iraq.

After being called to be career missionaries in Iraq their main concern was to help the internally displaced people, mostly Kurds searching for their next meal without jobs. They distributed containers of blankets and food and later also supplied water.

On March 16th, 2004, he and three others paid the ultimate price for following their Lord and Saviour. They were attacked by six men who shot at will into the truck in which they were travelling.
