I was born in Winnipeg and grew up on a farm in rural Manitoba. I was raised in the United Church but attended rarely. I do remember my mother reading to us from the Bible on occasion. I grew up knowing about the Lord, but knew little about living for the Lord. During my later teen years I was aware that I was searching for something but I didn't know what it was.
I was married in 1962 and through that marriage I became a practicing Roman Catholic. I still felt unfulfilled and empty, trying to fill that hole any way I could. My marriage ended in divorce.
Then came the troubled years and I resigned myself to the fact that I didn't need God or anything to do with church in my life. Years of hardship and frustration followed. Bad decisions were made, yet with some choices I felt God was with me and had His hand guiding me.
In 1990 I met my wife Pat, in Regina, and in 1991, we accepted a transfer to Saskatoon.
Through Pat's work, I met a Christian couple who were very instrumental in my search for answers. God does work through people. We decided to have a weekly Bible study. The Bible has always been of interest to me, since back as a child my mother read the Word to us.
I attended West Portal Church with Pat. After my wife became a Christian I saw a change in her and I knew that this was what I wanted and had been searching for. I accepted Christ in January 2003, and continued attending West Portal church, learning more and questioning more.
In 2005 we become a part of West Portal's Church plant, Faith River Christian Fellowship. God led me here for a purpose. There is work to be done in all areas, and I'm actively involved in several. I was baptized in September 2005 at Faith River as an outward sign of my faith and to openly claim I am a Christian and a member of the Body of Christ.
Luke 12:8 says, And I assure you of this, if anyone acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I , the Son of Man will openly acknowledge that person in the presence of God's angels. God Bless.
