When Jesus was ministering on earth He sought the lost. Today the Holy Spirit, through the church, is searching for lost sinners. “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” (Luke 19:10)
Rick Warren says: “You were made by God and for God and until you understand that, life will never make sense. You weren't put on earth to be remembered. You were put here to prepare for eternity.”
In Luke 19:5-10 a man called Zacchaeus was looking for Jesus, and Jesus was looking for him. Zacchaeus was a chief tax collector and was wealthy, but was spiritually bankrupt and needed to receive God's gift of eternal life. The Holy Spirit had worked in the heart of Zacchaeus to prepare him for this meeting with Jesus. He put his pride and dignity in his pocket and had to climb a tree because he was a short man and could not look over the crowd.
Luke 19:5-6, When Jesus came to the place, He looked up and saw him, and said to him, “Zacchaeus, make haste and come down, for today I must stay at your house.” So he made haste and came down, and received Him joyfully. This resulted in Zacchaeus becoming a changed man with a new life. He gave evidence of his faith by promising to make restitution to those he had wronged.
The invitation for Him to come into your life is the same today. He is knocking on your hearts door but you have to let Him come in. He will never force Himself into your heart. You can say 'no' to Him or you can say 'yes' to him as Zacchaeus did. The choice is yours till you die. But there is a warning in God's word. “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.” (Hebrews 3:15)
O soul, are you weary and troubled?
No light in the darkness you see?
There's light for a look at the Saviour,
and life more abundant and free!
Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
look full in His wonderful face;
And the things of the earth will grow strangely dim
in the light of His glory and grace.

Patrick Henry wrote in his will: “I have now disposed of all my property to my family. There is one thing I wish I could give them, and that is faith in Jesus Christ. If they had that and I had not given them one shilling, they would be rich; and if I had not given them that, and had given them all the world they would be poor indeed.”
