Looking Over Our Shoulder at 65 Years of History

Our Lending Library & Bookstore

From about 1962 we had a Free Lending Library, with Moody Colportage books, and books that had been donated. This Book Nook was especially popuplar with boys and girls on Saturdays as they came to exchange books. For some it was their only source of Christian literature.

Our Deputational Secretary and Evangelist, Jake Hoeppner, became a Colporteur as he visited outlying areas and found a great thirst for Bibles and Christian literature. His storage room at home for these supplies developed into a bookstore at the mission.

In 1982 it grew into the Harvest House Bookstore, moved to the west end of the city in 1986. It closed in 1992 because of financial struggles.
