My name is Jason Neufeld. I'm 33 years old. I am a serving prisoner in Alberta, but only in body.
I have been a drug addict and alcholic for the better part of 18 years.
I was saved when I was 13 years old. That was the best 3 years of my life, looking back on it.
Around my 17th birthday I started to backslide and found that partying was more important than God
and my family.
I did a few small provincial jail sentences in the early 90s. Then I went down to Arizona to be with
my family as that is where they had moved to. While there I started doing speed and partying harder
than ever.
Things happened and I found myself in Teen-Challenge. I was in the program for a year and quit.
Three or four months later my parents gave me a bus ticket back to Canada.
I then met a lady in Airdrie, Alberta. Things were going good; we had a house that we owned, and we
were expecting twins. In August of '98 our daughters were born.
Then in November of '98 one of them passed away. I didn't handle it well and walked away from my
family. In August of '99 I committed an armed robbery and came to prison.
While in prison I worked my way to the minimum security in the Saskatchewan Penitentiary. I then
walked away and committed a home invasion and got 3 more years added to the 4 I was already serving.
Then I got parole in February of 2005 and got out for 58 days. Once back in prison I started to pray
and read my Bible until my TV came.
Then I started doing morphine and smoking lots of THC oil. Then in August of 2005 I tried to kill
myself by overdosing on morphine.
Something happened inside me and I rededicated my life to God. I quit my job in the kitchen and got
a job in the chapel. I do my Bible study every day and can't wait to see what God has in store for
my life. I do know that I will be working in ministry one day - what area is up to the Lord.
Praise Jesus!
