The insecure and troubled world is looking for peace. With wars and rumors of wars, suicide bombers,
the recent hurricanes in the USA, the AIDS epidemic, etc., where do we find peace?
It is only in Jesus Christ that we find the true peace for this short life and for all eternity.
Romans 5:1, "Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord
Jesus Christ." Peace is a gift from God to everyone who receives Jesus as Lord and Saviour.
You may say, "Well, I am a Christian and I still have many fears in my every day life. How can I
have victory over these fears?"
If we let fear get the upper hand it will paralyze us, make us ineffective and cause us to miss what
God has planned for us. Learn how to live beyond the limits of fear, by trusting the Lord, and
giving Him room to work, even when the road is uncertain and rough at times.
I want to share with you a formula that I read in a book many years ago, written by John Edmund
Haggai ? Praise + Poise + Prayer = Peace.
Praise: Philippians 4:4. "Rejoice in the Lord always.' and verse 6; "...But in
everything... with thanksgiving...." This makes it independent of circumstances. Psalm 34:1,
"I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise shall continually be in my mouth." Every day
count your many blessings, name them one by one, and praise the Lord for all His goodness.
Poise (Balance). Philippians 4:7-8, "The peace of God, which surpasses understanding will
guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. ...Whatever things are true, whatever things are
noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever
things are of good report, if there be any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy -
meditate on these things." Fill your mind with the Word of God every day and you will experience
the peace of God all day long.
Prayer: Philippians 4:6b., "...in everything by prayer and supplication, with
thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God."
When the king announced that no one was to pray to anyone except the king, (Daniel 6:10) Daniel
"...knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as
was his custom." The result: Daniel was able to spend the night with the lions in perfect
peace, while the king in his palace could not sleep.
