The Lord is My Shepherd

In this sinful world many people are trying to find the answer to a life that is empty and meaningless. Many have been brainwashed and are on a path of false gods and religions. We find the answer in David's experience in Psalm 23:1-6.

Verse 1. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. Not only does He save us from our sins, but as our Shepherd He gives us everything we will ever need. John 10:4 . . . The sheep follow Him, for they know His voice.

Vs 2. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. Big ships have a gyroscope which keeps the ship at an even level through big waves. We have some big waves passing through our storms of live. This verse gives us a picture of peace and provision, no matter what we face.

Vs 3. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness for His name's sake. For your soul to be restored you have to make a choice. You can say ?yes? to God, or you can say, ?no.? The choice is yours until you die. We spend so much time in preparing for this short life, but what about our soul and a life that will continue for all eternity?

Vs 4. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. All of us will have to walk through this valley unless Jesus returns. We must be ready, for death is an appointment none of us will be able to avoid. We will be there exactly on God's time. Hebrews 9:27. . . It is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.

With the Lord as our Shepherd we need not fear the valley. Jesus will walk with us down through the valley. Jesus will walk with us all the way home. We need not fear any evil, for we have the strength and comfort we need from the Word of God.

Vs. 5. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.

Vs. 6. Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

John14:2b-3. Jesus said; I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.
